Show Notes

This week we're excited to introduce you to an English author called John Hampton in the third part of our mini-series simply entitled "Chaos".

We wanted to feature John on Into the Pray as quickly as possible because his book Mere Churchianity is THAT important...we like to think of it as a manifesto of the kingdom and certainly a book that should be at the very top of everyone's reading list during quarantine. [That and Body Zero ;)]

What's the big issue? What's the problem, Franks? Well, let me tell you what the problem is: the disaster of discipleship that now exists due to the staggering reality that the way we have always understood the "church", (our ecclesiastical practices, our beliefs, our rhythms and theologies), are completely wrong because (much more often that we will want to admit) they do not reflect the Bible that we say we believe and love and, specifically, the power and glory - and suffering - of the New Testament that I think we all yearn for.

Should this bother you? Yes, you should be deeply disturbed and disrupted.

In Into the Pray S1E3, you'll learn about the all-important Greek word, ekklesia, that William Tyndale died for and that King Henry refused to include in the English translation of the Bible in the mid-sixteenth Century.

God is leadings us back to the ancient paths but, before we get there, we have to ask ourselves in postures of historic repentance, "When/How/Why have we ever got to where we are now?".

John will feature again soon on Into the Pray but please mark my words: we will not have revival without repentance.

We're deeply grateful for John's work in this area that helps us all further along the road to Jesus Come.

Please get in touch and let us know your thoughts/comments/questions.

The other phenomenal book that Nick and Mairi chat about at the beginning of this episode is called The Unseen Realm written by Michael Heiser. You can buy this here and is particularly good as an audiobook.

** Apologies for the intermittent audio problem at the very end of this week’s episode
