Show Notes

Hello!

Thank you for joining us on Into the Pray!

Today Nick and Mairi kick back in a more relaxed conversational style to approach the next few verses of 1 Corinthians in our study series, City of Temples.

This conversation is also available to watch on YouTube.

The focus of today is vv 4-7 of chapter 13.

Drawing on Mairi's expertise as a French teacher, we begin to think about the less familiar reality of this chapter which is that it should never be wrenched out of its context for wedding ceremonies without the direct application for which it was written: the often painful anguish of Christian discipleship.

Here is a related video on this very same struggle that I think, if we're all being honest, we will all relate to in one way or another.

Whether we absorb these words in a wedding ceremony or in the normal, daily rhythms of Christian community, we often conclude that we must simply buckle up and "try harder".

However, the reality is that unless He creates this crescendo of His fruit in our lives (love/agapé) - unless we grow in understanding how much we have first been loved - we are never going to change beyond temporary/sporadic improvement.

Thank you very much for your ongoing prayers for healing as Nick continues to return to full health. The process is not necessarily overnight! We share more on our Patreon page for those of you who would like to walk this journey more closely with us.
